Eichwald Majolica Tobacco Jar with Roosters Pecking the Ground, circa 1870

An Austrian Eichwald majolica humidor tobacco jar from the late 19th century, with petite roosters pecking the ground. Created in Austria during the third quarter of the 19th century, this lovely tobacco jar called a humidor features a central wicker basket style lidded container accompanied with its small bucket, both of them decorated in a beige color accented with a pink trim. Two petite roosters are avidly pecking the bowl presenting a light turquoise finish on the inside, perfectly contrasted by the brown hue of the birds' feathers and outer surface, the ensemble being adorned with green foliage. The underside showcases the mark Eichwald. With its small dimensions and lovely décor, this Austrian Eichwald majolica tobacco jar, circa 1870 will be a charming addition to any home, particularly in a den, living room or office.
