Caltagirone Polychrome Terracotta Sculpture

Ancient polychrome terracotta shepherd made in the Caltagirone kilns, depicting an elderly "potato picker" character returning from work and carrying potatoes in two baskets. Popular character of Sicilian realism, made by the master figurative artist Gaetano Romano "Caltagirone 1926-2015". The sculpture is in excellent condition, intact and perfect and is signed and dated at the base 1968.
